Honestly looks like incompetence to me. The conspiracy would seem to need to be too big to be pulled off. You would have needed to recruit idiot kid to do the shooting and also need local police to be incompetent and not stumble on him.
If you recruited idiot kid to do the shooting then you have to hope local police do not take him alive.
There are too many points of failure and too many people who would need to be in the know for this to have been a legitimate conspiracy to assassinate Trump.
I take this as evidence that our institutions have completely rotted away with DEI and we no longer have institutional capabilities to do anything. Its a nation in decline except that tech scales and we have like 1k smart people in San Fran doing things.
The curtain has been pulled back. The big reveal was Biden at the debate. This is why Trump is unbeatable now. Everyone knows the country is in decline and poorly managed now.
This might be the silliest 10 days I’ve ever seen.

- Trump shot by 20 year old kid while SS watched and everyone just agrees SS incompetent
- Biden gets covid
- Cocksucking whore becomes nominee
- Biden just disappears
- No one at SS has any explanation for how a kid with no training wandered around with basically I’m a sniper going to shoot Trump shirt on and no one noticed

This is my opinion of the incident. A full conspiracy has too many moving parts. Willfully being bad at your job and leaving an opening a child could find is my default assumption.
DEI SS being this incompetent seems like a stretch. Willfully not giving a shit because you think Trump is Hitler makes sense to me. Somehow you need to get to the hive mind doing its thing without everyone being coordinated. Cheedle being a neverTrumper type gets you one part of the hive mind working in concert.
This incident further highlights to me how important project 2025 is going to be. Washington is against Trump and either thru direct action or choosing to be lazy won’t work with him.

Trump got the 2 big things right on Covid. Project Warpspeed. And the initial shutdown with a quick stimulus package.
The bad things on Covid were not fixable. Not being an island nation we were never going to Covid 0. And the other big issue is the media. The very worst lockdown actions came because the media scared the shit out of people for politics. I am not sure how Trump could have solved this issue. If the msm worked with Trump on covid policy then we would have had a better covid response. Things like keeping more of society open and running policy to protect grandma.
Why the Vibe change on Trump?
I think this is a very good marginal revolution posts. My personal journey I never abandoned him after 1/6 but always preferred Desantis. I actually liked 1/6 and thought the right needed a proper riot after the gaslighting on peaceful protests.

Anyone with an ounce of political instincts realized lawfare against Trump meant the GOP needed to unite around Trump. That killed Desantis. Desantis with Trump removed by lawfare without winning at the ballot box would lose the maga vote which meant a Dem landslide.

The Jews. I think I can fairly say they control 35-50% of our media. Political social media influencers on both sides have similar numbers. The pro-Hamas part of the left should scare the shit out of them. And Trump has come out very supportive of the Jewish community. Hannania has it right do you want that 10% of the vote that’s oppressor-oppressed ideologues of the tiny Jewish vote with money and media influence? I would be curious if Cowen sees this but won’t write it or if he has a mind block on these things.
Vibes do matter. People want to fit in with their tribe. If the vibe is Trump bad then they will say Trump bad. If the vibe is Trump good and their suppose to support him they will.
For the GOP the vibes at the convention feels like happy people. The Dems don’t feel like that right now.
As a lesser point Cowen called Trump a comedian and a very good one. It seems like a lot of politicians now are comedians. Milei, Zelensky, Trump, Boris Johnson.
Not making them feel pain hasn’t muted their desire to punish. That’s been the status quo since atleast the 1980’s and things have only gotten worse.
Things that have seemed to limit them some is Musks taking over twitter which let the right organize these attacks too. Desantis punishing Disney.
I am against going after the peasantry like Home Depot girl. I see my aunt or mother in her. We 100% should be punishing the leaders and taking scalps when we can. Disney and the executive class is fair game.
Vance lacks accomplishments. He wrote one acclaimed book. The rest of his career is a junior big law stint and then I guess he was good at befriending rich people and became a VC of which I see zero prominent investments.
He has never held a job long enough to do anything. I think it’s questionable “he had a life before politics”. He had internships to become a politician. Even Democrats who wanted to be in politics would spend 3 years in military service before going off to law school back in the day. He’s no Desantis in that regard.
He though is solidly blue tribe. Classic smart white guy marries Asian/Indian.
I don’t think he does much to extend the base. Maybe he helps to push engagement in Pennsylvania which is probably a swing state. Trumps biggest weakness is governance not winning the election. That may not matter for the election but in terms of getting things done Vance is a lightweight.
He reminds me a lot of Palin but with better education. I don’t even think Dems will fear him. He doesn’t remove the assassin risks with Trump.

Which is the game theory view for firing HD lady. A bad spot in game theory is to have it be legal to espouse leftist views but defacto illegal to espouse right views. The place you want to land is everyone can have views. But it’s still better to firing everyone who has view than only have leftist views supported.
Seems like W-2 people don’t get to have views is the optimal position.

I feel like this is weak writing by Scott especially for a psychologists. Actions/behaviors change before beliefs. “Wr are what we repeatedly do” - said by some famous philosopher.
Enforcing social norms will eventually change beliefs to your side. This is basic civilizing of barbarians.
Scott’s central point that nobody learns anything useful from persecution feels wrong to me. I would like to live in Scott’s world of principle libertarianism and debating society but unfortunately I think our tribal instincts for bloodlust are likely correct.
You don’t end a cultural civil war by being nice to the other side. When your side is in power you enforce new cultural norms and hope they stick.
I think he is fundamentally wrong that people don’t learn anything from being persecuted. HD lady will learn that she has the wrong memes. And then if you do it correctly accept your memes as correct. Starve or learn new memes.

They pretty much did tell the court fuck you. They were told it’s unconstitutional. They did it anyway. Cases take a long time to make it thru the system. He did it anyway. Sounds like a coup to me.
Choosing not to enforce the border and abusing the meaning of the word “asylum” while importing voters and using tax payer money is a coup in my book. Words have meanings. Asylum when the law was written meant something very specific - as in facing direct violence due to political belief. Biden decided it means I make $1 an hour in Guatemala and want American money.
You can say this is “exploiting loopholes”, but laws and words are always going to have a great deal on inexactness to them. And as the years go by people change the meaning of the word.
I don’t even know what you are complaining about with bureaucrats. They aren’t elected people. How is that a coup? It’s not like importing millions of voters, banning proof of citizenship, and changing election results.

Do you really need machine learning or AI to do this analysis? I feel like if you gave me arrest records in an excel spreadsheet with data I could 65% of this just eyeballing and 95% if I did some regressions in excel.
My guess is you already assumed my point, and your main point is maybe outsourcing this to AI gets you thru the politics some how.

Centrism is only good if the center is good. A centrist was pro-Hitler, pro-Stalin, pro-Mao, pro-FDR, pro-Reagan, pro-war on drugs, pro-mass incarceration, pro-Iraq War, pro-KKK, extremely racists, extremely reverse racism. They were likely pro a lot of things I would consider good too.
It’s an intellectually lazy philosophy of not taking the time to think thru an issue and form an opinion. A lot of the time you are not able to form a wise opinion so it gets tough. Being pro-Iraq war seems reasonable then because Cheney did some so CIA games and laundered false intel to the American people that you couldn’t verify.
Centrism is just assuming the current Overton window is correct. But the Overton window moves and thus makes a centrists opinion incompatible with views a centrist would have had just a few short years ago.

Kamala running as Bidens replacement isn’t the same thing as Kamala running after winning the primary. A lot of trust has been lost and now voters will rightfully asks what else are the Dems lying about.
In my view everything she says on stage will rightfully be question by all but the 30-40% of the solid blue electorate.
Dictators have a long history of being great. It all depends on the world you find yourself in and the situation of those to be governed.
Now I think a Republic was correct for the people of the early United States this is not the situation most countries find themselves in. The most extreme form of Democracy probably won’t work in sub-Saharan Africa. War time Ukraine is likely better with less democracy.
Of course I can fairly obviously state that you yourself are not in favor of Democracy. I’ve yet to meet one person in favor of one world government where the votes of Africa, China, India would absolutely crush the votes from the people of western governments. The more you think about Democracy the more you realize it’s not the core American feature and never could be.
If the SS can’t do basic communications and planning then it tells me that our enemies can assassinate the US POTUS at any time assuming they can find one competent guy willing to die for the cause.
Just show up as a plain clothes guy with a gun or sniper rifle. Print up a couple badges one for the local police and one for the SS. If the local police ask you question tell them your SS and vice versa. Basic Michael Weston spy craft but dumbed down a lot to a guy with 6 months training level. That was suppose to be a tv show.
The one thing I do love about all of this is Project 2025 has credibility now. Our institutions are failing. The Fed took 18 months to figure out inflation was too much money. The military bungled leaving Afghanistan. Universities are led by Hamas (half joking but leadership has sympathies), the SS is incompetent, Fauci told America cloth masks stop viruses. I could rant forever but it’s increasingly clear that the top 10-40k of our beauracracy needs replaced. It’s not just that they are anti-Trump. They are not good at their jobs and need replaced.
Biden hasn’t even fired the head of the SS which would make him look good.

I do not believe this is a charitable take at all. While some people as you describe “ anger, bloodlust, and sadism, not by any beautiful or noble feelings.”
I consider it a viable political strategy. It’s downstream of how states have always been made. You forcefeed your state’s founding memes on school children in your public schools. You force people to learn a common tongue. You promote families by slut shaming and in the past removing from the rest of society the young girls who got pregnant.
Enforcing cultural norms is basic civilization building.
I think some on the left did canceling for fun, but I do think many of them thought what they were doing was for the good of society. I think it’s obvious the right canceling corporations has had a positive effect on society.

I hate to see HBD in everything but the reason you see - rust belt town kid - repudiates culture and joins blue/grey tribe is because there are a lot of them. It’s a very common path.
I think these towns may be starting to run out of high IQ stock as they are filtered out but they are relatively young in the filtering process. Like a generation back. These are coal mine or steel mill immigrant communities 70-100 years ago. The mills closed in roughly the ~’80s.
Baltimore just doesn’t have the stock to have these people emerge in large numbers.

Lighter resume I would agree. Though I would argue that Obama had a previous life. A decade plus as a law professor at UC. Vance’s professional career is just 3 years at big law and then being Thiel’s buddy, calling himself a VC, and investing in Rumble.
Obama you would obviously call an academic lawyer. I don’t think you would call Vance any particular career.
The left also immediately tried to make the right wear the Pelosi beating. Controlling narratives does matter. The left lives off this.
If a trans women is killed by his lover we get articles about the rise in maga fueled transviolence. If black men start beating up Asians it’s because of white supremacists maga fueled Asian hate. If some rope is found in a nascar garage near a black man it’s maga fueled KKK racism.
There is a real need to control the narrative quickly while it’s in the news cycle. If Pelosi’s attacker was his gay lover and you didn’t fight for the narrative then half the country 4 years later would believe it was maga because that is the story that ran while it was in the news cycle.
