If a trans women is killed by his lover we get articles about the rise in maga fueled transviolence. If black men start beating up Asians it’s because of white supremacists maga fueled Asian hate. If some rope is found in a nascar garage near a black man it’s maga fueled KKK racism.
There is a real need to control the narrative quickly while it’s in the news cycle. If Pelosi’s attacker was his gay lover and you didn’t fight for the narrative then half the country 4 years later would believe it was maga because that is the story that ran while it was in the news cycle.
I mean we did have real fraud in 2020. It’s just people ignore the obvious frauds.
The expanse of mass-mail in voting is considered fraud by historical Democratic principals. Trump wins in a landslide without that.
At this point it is beyond proven that the FBI interfered with social media with regards to the Hunter Biden laptop. They knew it was real the entire time. The CIA helped cover that up.
These things aren’t conspiracies. They are proven and changed the election.

Does placing a disclaimer before a show give you unlimited ability to then defame a person? Yes I am talking about Law and Order. And specifically the episode that aired last night “Facade”. Airing March 21, 2024.
The first 45 minutes or so fairly accurately portray the case of Daniel Perry who using a chokehold caused the death of Jordan Neely a homeless man who frightened passengers on a NYC subway.
Spoilers now so watch the episode or just read. The last 15 minutes show that he’s every leftist fantasy of what a white male really is. Turns out while doing the chokehold he said “blood and dirt” an obvious reference to Nazis and “blood and soil”. Furthermore the gym he goes to is ran by an undercover cop investigating white supremacists. He’s actually a full fledged Nazi collecting weapons to plan another very violent January 6. Non of this can be presented at trial because the white supremacists investigation is more important than convicting him at trial of murder.
Where am I going with this? This feels like defamation to me. There is no evidence that the real life Daniel Perry has any ties to actual Nazis.
I completely think art needs to have an ability to show real events. And I liked Law and Order back in the day. But there is a real life Daniel Perry and if I loosely followed the news I would 100% know the episode is referring to him. They followed the facts in the case accurately for 45 min. The last 15 min he is a terrorist Nazi. I would assume the last 15 min are referencing something in his background and he has some ties to real Nazis.
Without ruining the entire genre and making it impossible to do this feels like defamation to me. A midtwit would be under the impression it’s about him and he’s a real Nazi. But the real Daniel Perry is not a Nazi.
This leads to two questions for me. The lawyers can comment on the actual legal line here. The non-lawyers can discuss whether he’s damaged any differentially than if CNN just ran a bunch of made up stuff he was a Nazi. He’s a real private person and I think I can fairly say a lot of people would watch the episode and assume he has real Nazi ties.
There is one more element of art depicting reality. The FBI has instigated and put under covers in against normie Republicans and Pro-Life people on the grounds they are a national security threat but they probably aren’t in those cases full fledged terrorist.
If I were Daniel Perry I would try to sue. I feel like his reputation was damaged and he has real damages but not a lawyer to know the legal lines and I would assume NBC has lawyers but I still feel like he has a real reputational damage. Plus he’s going on trial and a juror who saw the episode would now think he has undisclosed nazi ties.
There is probably some who is the bad person thing here. In their fictional depictions from episodes 20 years ago I probably didn’t care when they added some negative stuff to a black character etc. But now that white people are bad I get upset when they add he was a Nazi about to commit 1/6 or 9/11 to their fictional portrayal of real events.
In summary his obvious fictional portrayal of his actions added a whole he’s a real Nazi plot line but they began the episode with a disclaimer it’s fictional.
Edit: I would be curious if anyone else watched the episode. Or if everyone is assuming I am appropriately representing the episode as they portrayed him as a “full-fledged nazi with a desire to kill black people” as accurate. And that exaggeration is expected now.

Honestly looks like incompetence to me. The conspiracy would seem to need to be too big to be pulled off. You would have needed to recruit idiot kid to do the shooting and also need local police to be incompetent and not stumble on him.
If you recruited idiot kid to do the shooting then you have to hope local police do not take him alive.
There are too many points of failure and too many people who would need to be in the know for this to have been a legitimate conspiracy to assassinate Trump.
I take this as evidence that our institutions have completely rotted away with DEI and we no longer have institutional capabilities to do anything. Its a nation in decline except that tech scales and we have like 1k smart people in San Fran doing things.
The curtain has been pulled back. The big reveal was Biden at the debate. This is why Trump is unbeatable now. Everyone knows the country is in decline and poorly managed now.

When did Trump incite a riot? I listened to his speech that day. At no point did he call for violence. Anything he said is 100% protected free speech. If Trumps guilty then Biden, Kamala, every member of congress, and every Senator is guilty.
To me the only real case is the one in Georgia where he may have crossed some lines. He is also probably guilty of some things with classified documents but since Biden, Pence, Hillary have similar issues that feels a lot like lawfare and should be thrown out because the law hasn’t been equally applied.

I do too. I’ve had a few. One went to Northwestern, they all pretty much have corporate jobs doing normal blue tribe stuff.
The thing in the whole debate is nobody doing the debate had George Floyd type black friends. It does go too far too call black people in general animals. We all know many who function quite well in western civilization. However, there is an underclass that seems to need a huge amount of intervention in terms of policy and financial aid to develop communities looking anything like the rest of western civilization. They are not self-sustaining without aid from other parts of society.

I found two articles yesterday with cultural connections. Tomorrow we have a board room drama in a culturally significant corporation. Today we have the “Misandry Myth”. It’s a longer piece and basically all of the commentary I would make is eventually covered. It’s also relevant to the replication crisis as the strong evidence in male/female biases doesn’t get citations and is largely blocked from publication in journals. It’s a wealth statement for the personal guarantee. Not the direct loan docs for the exact property/asset securing the loan. IMO if he has a loan for 250 million and claims he’s worth 5 billion but is really worth 2 billion it doesn’t really matter to the bank. So he didn’t profit at all.

The judge is already on the record doing really stupid things. Confusing tax appraisal with market value and claiming Mar-a-Lago is worth $15 million

For the most part he didn’t sign anything that lied about the particular assets. (Some debate condo was doubled in size). He owns Mar-a-Lago. The asset he said he owns he does in fact own and the rest is a valuation question.
This case is almost a litmus test for me on am I talking to a partisan or talking to someone who will say they are just playing games but for media consumption will play the game.

I laugh when the one guy posts go talk to a therapists here’s the suicide prevention helpline. When your business is failing your issues are not lefty mental health. Your dealing with a real issue of not being able to provide for your family and seeing all your dreams disappear. It’s one of the most emasculating things that can happen to someone especially someone who is use to being able to handle stuff

Society has very little tolerance for failed men. After the fact everyone will say he showed some signs and should have helped out. When you are failing you have the stench of failure and people honestly try to run away from you.

I know someone whose dad killed themselves so when there business failed. I always thought the lefts argument that rioting and looting isn’t damaging was false. Being able to provide for your family is life and it’s something men take very personality.

Compared to the Reddit debates and how the SC would prevent this as a non-lawyer I thought the opinion was fairly basic and simple. It seems to me that they just declared it a Feds power in Federal elections and the States don’t get a say. Personally, I did come to a belief that it was self-executing.
I think they avoided really touching on all the novel legal theories both ways going around on Reddit or twitter.
It came down to what I believe was one of my original views that letting States have any say in declaring someone an insurrectionists would be a complete clusterfuck and basically turn into state legislatures electing Presidents. Therefore they declared it a federal power.
I would call this pragmatic versus legally correct in my opinion. They avoided 100 page treatise on whether the President is an office holder.
I predicted something between 7-2 and 9-0. 9-0 seems better for the nation.

This is my opinion of the incident. A full conspiracy has too many moving parts. Willfully being bad at your job and leaving an opening a child could find is my default assumption.
DEI SS being this incompetent seems like a stretch. Willfully not giving a shit because you think Trump is Hitler makes sense to me. Somehow you need to get to the hive mind doing its thing without everyone being coordinated. Cheedle being a neverTrumper type gets you one part of the hive mind working in concert.
This incident further highlights to me how important project 2025 is going to be. Washington is against Trump and either thru direct action or choosing to be lazy won’t work with him.

This case is so bad it’s the exact thing I talked about with ymeskhout about that what he was complaining about the right grifters can get away with anything because the vibes are institutional corruption. And this is worse it’s not some dude making a movie but a court of law in one of the richest states in the union.
No one else has ever been prosecuted for this. It’s like giving a guy a $400 million bill because he jaywalked.

Trump got the 2 big things right on Covid. Project Warpspeed. And the initial shutdown with a quick stimulus package.
The bad things on Covid were not fixable. Not being an island nation we were never going to Covid 0. And the other big issue is the media. The very worst lockdown actions came because the media scared the shit out of people for politics. I am not sure how Trump could have solved this issue. If the msm worked with Trump on covid policy then we would have had a better covid response. Things like keeping more of society open and running policy to protect grandma.

Secret ballot principles are violated. It’s been when discussed here. Every organization that defines what makes a good Democracy before 2020 said mail-in ballots had issues. After 2020 it’s all good.
We probably do have the technology today to make mail-in voting fine. You could have an IPhone do facial ID and watch you vote in secret.
I don’t even understand these arguments. The motte for Elon Musks is he’s the most important person of the 21st century to date and the most important engineer since probably 1900. Electric cars didn’t exists before him. I believe he’s the only person to start a car company from scratch in a 100 years without state backing. Rockets had completely had no advance for 60 years before him. His satellite internet is an entirely new industry. He’s also the first backer of openAI which is like Microsoft’s entire bet the company bet.
Bill Gates invented a computer operating system and excel. Steve Jobs improved smart phone tech that already existed and created an animation company. Also competed in computers. Musks accomplishments seem above these two guys.
What is the Bailey for Elon Musks? He’s literally god or at a minimum a comic book super hero here to save mankind?
The motte for him is no reason to dump Musks as an ally. There is no human on earth I would prefer as an ally.

Honestly the most interesting thing to me is How does Elon Musks have some much time to be involved in every single twitter controversy. The amount of twitter stuff he’s involved in is like a typical unemployed sleeping in moms basement always online level not a guy whose like CEO of 3 companies. Makes me curious if he’s outsourced all the CEO stuff yet and just tweets or if there is some dude with a job title that is Elon Musks professional tweeter.
And Tracy should be getting a NYT article in about 72 hours including all of his personal information.

I honestly just decided I’ll be a bigot and have worked out that trans people don’t exists. Realistically I think there’s an incredibly small percent of the population that some hormone thing went wrong and really have gender confusion.
It feels a lot like anorexia. Where Scott just wrote a piece about how it wasn’t common in society until one case got publicized and now you have an epidemic of anorexia and the same process has occurred in multiple societies. Or like one mass shooting leads to multiple Maas shooting.
So it’s part of the culture war I get no interest in reading the nuances of. It’s like trying to debate caring about a cult of Scientology.

Something interesting is happening in Mexico. I will preface by saying this is a fact-finding point of analysis at this time but seems interesting. I have not yet made up an opinion on the situation.
Today Mexico elected Claudia Sheinbaum. Despite being widely expected Mexico etfs and markets took a huge dive. EWW appears to be one of the more popular etfs and was down 11% today. Milei and Trump each had big day 1 sell-offs but if my memory is correct both after winning elections had calm and relatively unchanged equity indexes by the close of U.S. trading.
Sheinbaum is from the same political party that has been running Mexico - AMLO. The big difference is the election was more of a landslide than expected. Super-majorities in Congress that will be able to pass whatever they want. She is even being called by the U.S. msm as a lifelong leftist. Her grandparents when they left Europe were both Jewish and communists.
On the plus side she was mayor of Mexico City and achieved a 10-15% reduction in murder (I usually think murder data is trustworthy). She does appear to be smart and technocratic but very left. I believe I saw her show support for Palestine and there is talk she will be friendly with Venezuela, Cuba, and Russia.
The other interesting thing to me is a Jewish (secular) women feels very odd as a national candidate to me in Mexico. No Spanish or indigenous roots. And Mexico’s Jewish population is extremely small (though as always there are some big hitters). Which feels very odd to me for a society to elect such an outsider (maybe Obama is close?). Also I guess she’s had some birther style attacks.
I talked to a few Mexican friends. One said he hated her and she was a communists, also said she wasn’t Jewish which surprised me as I thought most people considered Jewish an ethnicity. The other seems more open-minded.
Trump being elected could make negotiations between them tense since they are opposites on the political spectrum.
As far as markets go I want to figure out how she will govern. Mexico does seem to have some tailwinds with reshoring so the discount today looks interesting. The counter is the degree of the election victory means she has a mandate so if she does have leftist instincts I think there is a risks Mexico ends up on an Argentina or Venezuela path for a while. If you feel confident you can underwrite her politics will be more of a technocrat with leftist vibes/rhetoric but largely AMLO continuation then it’s an interesting time to pick up Mexico exposure at a discount.

I started reading your first article. The first two people are for bribery. Much different offense than mislabeling your personal business dealings. 700k and gold bars versus I wrote it down wrong on internal documents.
U-Visas, or Visas for illegals who suffered violent crime in the U.S. has recently come into the news as a gang in Chicago did fake robberies to help illegals get U-Visas. The program was originally designed to help sex trafficking victims. But had already expanded.

Leftist piece detailing two Chicago cops who were known for denying U-Visa claims. One case in particular caught my eye of an illegals son being murdered in Chicago and then using it to apply the entire family for U-Visas. Basically if you let the gangbanging families into the country eventually junior gets killed and everyone is legal. A lot of the cases sound like antisocial illegal behavior making them eligible for getting U-Visas.
What started out as a nice way to help sex-trafficking victims then turned into a whole institution for getting immigrants legal. And then it turned into let’s just fake the crimes.
Of course this is a prime example of perverse incentives and the cobra effect. Once you start measuring something people find a way to get the incentive in a way that does not accomplish your goal.
It’s also an indicator for why America is becoming a low trust society. As a Republican I see no reason to ever compromise with the left. If you try to do something reasonable like U-Visas or Asylum or money for terrorist attack victims (turning into massive student loan relief) the left will abuse your reasonableness.
It’s also why the right with some help from Trump was wise to shutdown the immigration bill. That which is written on paper isn’t important. It will be abused. Controlling the executive, beauraucracy, and the process is where the power lies.
