I think its more of a statement against corporate exploitation of consumers through shrinkflation. He probably has a dead family member who was a habitual drinker of post-mix beverages and suffered from mass-exploitation over their lifetime.
If ICE stopped being masked goons who look like they came straight out of a bad YA dystopia movie,
Your terms are acceptable. This can be accomplished by arresting and punishing those on the left that are attempting to dox the ICE agents and use intimidation, violence and other tactics (even stochastically) against the agents and their families to demoralise them from their work. Once the doxxers are significantly deterred to the point the criminal behaviour is drastically reduced, and the doxing threat against ICE agents for doing their jobs is removed, then ICE agents can go maskless again.
and became normal accountable government officials who behave kindly and civilly
If this is not code for 'become ineffectual' and actually means that you wish them to hold the above demeanor as they effectively do their jobs then this is also acceptable. Effectively doing their jobs however includes an appropriate use of force against those they are arresting and also those attempting to disrupt law enforcement activities.
Nothing happened in the world today. Anyways..
He could have acted like most people would when confronted in that scenario; taking his feet off the seat and spending the remainder of his journey being resentful at the woman and the conductor, before forgetting about the incident within an hour of leaving the train.
Instead he decided to cover his embarrassment at being called out for his prole behaviour by immediately escalating into racebaiting. His Rosa Parks act doesn't fool me and I'm pretty sure most of his fellow travelers (heh) were thinking 'just shut up and get off the train dude, I've got places to be'.
While I hate Karens (and the woman in the video looks insufferable), I don't have any sympathy for him at all. He's contributing to the tragedy of the commons and pearl clutching when called out. The seats are plastic precisely because people act as he does, lowering comfort for all travelers and contributing to more cars on the road driven by people who are not public transport enjoyers.
Apropos of nothing, your comment triggered something and I did a dive back into the original Moria roguelike. Oh boy... the memories. How does a casual ASCII game from the early 80's provoke that kind of emotion. How could a modern developer recapture it?
Yes, I think it is.
Pope John Paul II famously advocated for his (failed) assassin to be pardoned. I think he did it to make the religious point beyond doubt, but I believe justice for criminals is something that is pro-social and needs to happen. You can imagine a Christian fanaticist society according to your interpretation and its likely outcomes.
I won't go into examples of the 'ick' factor, but I know it when I see it. And when I come across these visual hazards I let my mind slide past the images and quickly move onto the next piece of content. Its a very helpful self defence measure.
Some Christians believe that demons can actually attack you through various mediums like the above. I'm agnostic, but I definitely don't feel the need to observe and ingest horrible things in some display of bravado.
the protesters have drone footage that certainly seems to show a lot of people
Not wanting to rain on that parade (which actually happened. The rain I mean), but when I've observed photos or footage from any politically related event it is always taken in a 'just so' way to provide a verisimilitude of larger attendance.
Just finishing The Thirteen Gun Salute.
I can see why some Aubrey/Maturin enjoyers favourite some of the later books in the series. Its great to follow Maturin after all of the character growth that he's been through and interacting in pragmatic ways with strange fauna that would never be allowed in the modern world. Knowing something of Indonesian and Malaysian culture, its interesting to see them used as a colonial era set piece for the series' usual political skullduggery.
Its also so strange to see colonial European attitudes towards pederasty and homosexuality in practice. I've got no idea if things were actually like that back then, but its pretty interesting to see it woven into the narrative and used as an attack surface for Maturin's intelligence machinations.
Really happy with my time investment in this series.
RSPCA disclaimer - No Sloths or Orangutans were debauched in the writing of this review or the novel itself. At least as far as I know.. there was this one night time scene in the Buddhist temple that wasn't entirely descriptive of what went on.
'Turning the other cheek' is more about breaking cycles of vengeance through forgiveness and not holding a grudge.
In other words her act is more of a call against retaliatory acts of violence against the Left and nothing about absolving the criminal from his need to face Justice.
My Steam library is like an Elephant's Graveyard where EA games go to die.
(I've learned you always want to be a patient gamer with flavor of the month early access games)
This is probably good advice. I hate ruining EA games for myself by coming to the end of the content, and not feeling motivated enough to ever return to the game in it's final form.
I picked up Return to Moria a while ago for free on Epic Games Store (who are still giving away free games weekly btw).
I first played it a bit solo (up until the tentacled lake lurker or whatever it was) and then restarted to play with a friend. While it was kind of fun to explore Moria alone and gave me a feeling of isolation, the game seems to be designed for Multiplayer. I eventually dropped the game because it didn't hold my interest. I don't think I'd go back unless I could play it with friends as the content itself feels kind of samey after a while.
I think a lot of moderate Breadtubers and influencers are really anxious right now. Because they're thinking 'if the current political climate is one where moderates are being shot by their political opponents, how safe am I?'
Yeah she was actually on the verge of tears at one point. This whole thing genuinely got to her.
Yeah, I'd probably vote 'present' or whatever the neutral response is. Just the usual clown show nothingburger motion at the circus.
If someone came after me for neither supporting or opposing, I'd just shrug until they went away.
They are starting to be separate circles with little overlap, many women on dating websites make clear their political affiliation, and most high quality men pay lip service only to progressive politics if they acknowledge it at all. Anyone who still wants to date has to lie a bit.
Is this mostly an American thing? I have come across this in Australia, but its thankfully rare and any girl putting 'don't contact me if X is your politics' is doing both of us a favour. (Where X is almost invariably right wing views)
Most people here just don't talk about politics that much and if they do, they only do so briefly when dating.
I certainly pretend to be a disinterested centrist when dating, unless I think the girl genuinely aligns with my views.
Interesting. While my ex-partner was largely pragmatic and saw the world mostly the same way I did, there were still times that I just needed to shut my mouth to keep the peace. I feel lucky now for what I had, at least in that way.
I'm on the high end instant coffee gig, and leaning into high caffeine black teabags. Happy where I am, no need to correct it.
I think Kimmel was just throwing red meat to his followers and critically failed at reading the current political climate. I can understand why; he got away with highlighting Trump's inflammatory statements in low key victim blaming after the two Trump assassination attempts.
I think part of this though is that its the final straw in Kimmel's repeated stances on these kind of events (eg political violence is bad, but he kinda deserved it wink wink) and it had drawn the Eye of Sauron FCC attention. Whether Trump had a quiet chat to the FCC chairman about this is a seperate issue.
A few pounds of muscle on my bones made a world of difference.
There's a lot of low hanging fruit for making your life better.
People talk a lot about 'noob gains' and rapid early progress in muscle gain, but they don't talk enough about the early psychological effects of heavy resistance training on the indolent and sedentary. There's a large spike in hormones when you first start lifting that go a long way towards killing anxiety and reinforcing confidence and resilience.
Honestly its probably more impactful on male attractiveness than the physical toning itself.
I agree that its possible that the partner knew nothing (or at least thought the shooter was just being edgy/hyperbolic). It reminds me of observations of a friend before he took his own life. It was similar in that he was considering a massively life altering choice that his loved ones would disapprove of and send shockwaves through the lives of those around him. He pretty much managed to keep it hidden with only small hints that were only obvious in hindsight.
So, while I'm not entirely sold on the partner being completely innocent in all this, its probably best to go with Occam's razor until there's any new official revelations. Better than the alternative.
I never really considered that users might be 'hiding their power level' from their spouses. Sounds exhausting, but considering the amount of polarisation in Western political discourse, its not that surprising.
Yeah I agree, it should be taken with a large grain of salt. Someone in their early 20's can change their views a lot from when they were 18. I'm not trying to focus on the partner's political point of view as much as their trans identity and the possibility their 'innocence' was deliberately telegraphed by actions pre-planned with the shooter.
I mean, how do you surprise your live in romantic partner with a political assassination? They really didn't see any signs?

No, a black woman
willcan get black men to vote for them while a gay manwon'talmost certainly can't.Edit: fixed.
