I mean very few guys are ever gonna have an even choice between offensive & defensive line. They're fundamentally different bodytypes and competencies even whilst acknowledging the 'they've gotta be top percentile in general size' reality.

DL is just inherently a lot simpler and more explosiveness driven. There's a reason there's been way more instances of random late-life converts or overseas players managing to succeed as DL than as OL.

Anecdotally, detransitioning does seem to be more common among ex-transmen than ex-transwomen

Completely spurious reasoning but I feel like a lot of this would be down to transmen having more to lose by opting to be a male and thereby losing out on 'the sisterhood'/social connections versus low-status men essentially going from nobody giving a fuck to a built-in social network when they opt to transition. I also feel like men are more likely to actually achieve something approaching what they want out of the transition, whilst in my own experience of Transmen there's a lot of very garbled logic about essentially wanting to be a top 1% guy to experience those perceived advantages without realizing they're renouncing female privilege and moving onto... petite feminine male non-privilege.

I feel it's perfectly valid to say that Gender Dysphoria exists as a medical diagnosis and yet trans people exist as a social construct aimed at addressing/ameliorating said social construct.

Realistically I think there’s an incredibly small percent of the population that some hormone thing went wrong and really have gender confusion.

I mean the base idea here is that Gender Dysphoria is definitely a real thing that exists.

Meanwhile the whole trans movement is more about 'how does society decide that these people should be treated and what is appropriate in regards to them' then it's far more a matter of conjecture and debate.

How much of that is the very idea of traditional retirement being kind of absurd in the modern era?

Retiring at 65 when there was a reasonable expectation of death by early-mid 70s after a life of actual hard labor and there wasn't obscene amounts of money poured into extending out the last 2-3 years of life was sustainable. The modern conception of retiring from a laptop or deskwork at 65 to just kind of aimlessly dodder around for 20-30 years has upset the whole system.

In my experience of current dating culture, having gone from a 2/10 to a 8/10 through a combination of aesthetic considerations and income improvements, I'm definitely of the opinion that the reluctance of women to date sideways/settle is the defining characteristic of the age. The attractive men that women complain about tend to act as they do due to being oversubscribed.

I'm also fairly confident the average guy would be more able to pick/actually date with what he'd consider 'wife material' characteristics than a girl trying to pick for maximal stable marital harmony in her partners.

Also the question of what is meant by adaptation?

I've seen plenty of men adapt to maximize their chances of casual sex in the current environment and thereby get laid a bunch, but the alternate adaptation path that leads to actually reproducing seems a bit nebulous and confusing at this point.

They mandated them in Spanish Flu and found no difference in mortality anywhere

I mean back in that era essentially the best they could do was hessian sackcloth.

I agree that masks are likely of essentially zero value, and if they were going to be of value it'd be of the 'If you follow all 58 laws of medical compliance, never breathe too hard or adjust your mask whatsoever you might receive a 1% resistance to a disease of your choice' which is beyond implausible. The whole adoption during COVID was far more about team membership than anything.

I am a black professor, I directed my university’s black-studies program, I lead anti-racism and transformative-justice workshops, and I have published books on anti-black racism and prison abolition. I live in a predominantly black neighborhood of Philadelphia, my daughter went to an Afrocentric school, and I am on the board of our local black cultural organization.

It is kind of hilarious how badly this statement would come off if you substituted prettymuch any other ethnicity or word for Black.

For whatever definition of "flying animal" you can come up with, I'm pretty sure I could come up with an exception, unless maybe you write a couple hundred words in your definition explicitly listing exceptions to the point where it's a very obviously unwieldy and not particularly natural category.

Yeah, even 'flying animal' for the purposes of fence building I'm sure for any given fence there's some animals capable of limited flight that would nonetheless find it insurmountable.

the only way I can steelman this stupid theory is that Pelosi asked him to "smash up his rear entrance" and DePape took it literally.

That's my personal headcanon from here on out.

I'm assuming the new, recent one?

How much crime does one have to commit to be arrested six separate times? Dozens or hundreds of incidents

I mean I'd imagine there's few private citizens who haven't committed 100s of what could be charged as misdemeanors if they were observed by a sufficiently disgruntled law enforcement officer.

The Lib argument tends to be inherently more fractitious compared to the ageing middle American heartland that's still pretty defining for the Republican party. Facebook's increasingly becoming dominated by the sort of demographics that tend to vote Republican. The kids have fled elsewhere, leaving their parents and grandparents.

Democrat voters also tend to be more diverse in their spoken languages of choice & consumption, which further splits the popularity of the biggest channels communicating to them.

I feel like the vast majority of people are going to conceal the true extent of their politically incorrect beliefs since it's socially advantageous.

...How is this different than (((Triple Parentheses)))?

I feel like the lack of an assumed/densely-correlated genetic component alters the calculus a little bit.

Sidebar but was recently on /r/combatfootage and it's insane both how much HQ video is coming out of the conflict (especially the drone bombings which are, frankly, grim as hell) and how partisan most people are on random gunfights between Ukrainian and Russian young men with no particular power over their own destinies.

Yeah. Phrasing definitely supports a suicide.

There is an elevated risk, but not that much , and obesity carries risks as well, so one must take that into account, too.

Yeah. Ignorant of the exact permutation with Fenphen but if it was a reliable 'obesity cure' it's pretty hard to imagine side effects that weren't immediately, gigantically apparent being worse than obesity itself.

I'd expect a general upward drift in 'celebrity deaths' on Wikipedia due to the notability window as well. Rates of achieving 'celebrity status' started to accelerate 40-50 years ago, which is about commensurate with when you'd expect the 20-30 something celebrities of then to start departing.

Basically the right is doing the same thing the left did in 2020-2021.

Yeah. It's kinda hilarious how things have pivoted from 'random deaths/medical issues pinned on LONG COVID' to 'random deaths/medical issues pinned on VACCINE SIDE EFFECTS'.

Honestly personally I think the effects of 'Long Lockdown' in terms of weight gain, exercise disrupted, habits picked up, mental issues are probably going to present a greater specter than either COVID or the vaccine.

I do find it amusing that people on social media are acting like Jan 6th invented the storming of the capitol.

Yeah. My dad was from a very poor corner of the North of England in a very large family and a bath was a weekly phenomenon in which the water'd be shared between the extended family.

People are generally unaware of how staggeringly modern a lot of expected current conveniences are.

it doesn't offer you solutions to your problems

'Get jacked, get confident, get bitches' is more of a solution than anything being offered from the other side of the fence, though.

Is it One Size Fits All? No!

But atleast it's a suggestion compared to either 'Be Yourself' in a dating scene that is beyond warped or 'Long screed about how bad and evil men from before your time acted poorly etc etc etc'

Yeah. I'm not necessarily driven by doing things for my parents' approval, but a lot of the situations that would equate to 'my parents disapprove' would likely be what I'd consider failure states for myself regardless.
