It’s crazy how many white-looking people I see calling themselves indigenous in places like Canada and Australia. They use their dubious identity to claim prestigious roles and awards, like - have you no shame? And is anybody else seeing this shit? Like can you not see how pale this person is? Some of them even have blue eyes ffs

We need genetic testing for this sort of thing going forward. Native ancestry of 50 percent or greater or no dice

Your numbers lacks serious range, stopping around 2011 for some reason. I still can easily see a visual steep decline starting when “don’t ask don’t tell” was implemented, which actually helps prove my point.

https://warontherocks.com/2023/03/addressing-the-u-s-military-recruiting-crisis/

How bad is the recruiting crisis? During the last fiscal year, the Army missed its recruiting goal by 15,000 active-duty soldiers, or 25 percent of its target. This shortfall forced the Army to cut its planned active-duty end strength from 476,000 to 466,000. And the current fiscal year is likely to be even worse. Army officials project that active end strength could shrink by as much as 20,000 soldiers by September, down to 445,000. That means that the nation’s primary land force could plummet by as much as 7 percent in only two years — at a time when its missions are increasing in Europe and even in the Pacific, where the Army provides many of the critical wartime theater enablers without which the other services cannot function.

Danes and western immigrants to Denmark are, on average, positive contributors to Denmark during their working years. The same is true, though less so, of "Other non western". However it turns out that the controversial group of immigrants - MENAPT (Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan and Turkey) - are net negative contributors at every age.

A breakdown by country (for countries with at least 5000 immigrants to Denmark) is provided and the result is exactly what the far right would predict: white people, Indians and Chinese make good immigrants and contribute positively to Denmark. The average American benefits Denmark to the tune of about $12k/year, the average Indian a little bit less. The average Somalian costs Denmark about $18k. Thais, Vietnamese and Filipinos are net neutral.

This is why I always found it strange that there is a corporate argument for lllegal immigration - that somehow this improves the economy and business of European companies. Maybe, but the taxpayers are big losers ultimately, having to foot a massive bill that will inevitably result in either an increase in taxes (in already the most highly taxed countries in the world) or (more likely) a decrease in quality of services. It’s a lose lose situation.

So the Lancet commissions most recent report seems to finally acknowledge that the lab leak hypothesis is both legitimate and calls for action to prevent any future lab leaks

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/backlash-major-covid-origins-report-suggests-virus-could-have/

Of note they also state that the lab leak could have occurred in America, not China. Is this due to CCP influence within the Lancet? Or is this legitimate possibility? My intuition is that it’s the former. I’m glad they are at least finally admitting that the evidence exists for it.

How many “competent well adjusted infertile” couples are there, really?

Iirc there’s a ratio of about 20 families per child waiting for adoption

Given leftwingers and liberals new penchant for bashing the notion of freedom (“FREEDUMB”) I think you’re correct. I see “personal carbon credits” as the new horizon, with opposition being taken down quickly with accusations of racism and/or conspiracy theory

People with higher levels of education will likely be accorded more carbon credits under the notion that they are performing more valuable labour to society like giving DEI seminars or other important activism

Not that a few didn't run with that narrative in the absence of evidence anyways.

The one that inspired “stop Asian hate” comes to mind. They had zero evidence it was hate motivated but that did nothing to stop the fake media outrage

Like, what figures were they expecting?

I guess you missed the part where the previous expanded universe series sold TENS OF MILLIONS of copies.

And no, selling a few thousand books isn’t “very good”. Like, cmon.

alleged billion dollar marketing campaign

“Alleged”. This isn’t a law court, this is just a fact.

Republicans aren’t known for forcing speech codes around dubious notions of “harm”, so yea, they should vote R, I’m surprised people don’t realize they are the libertarian team. At worst they might draft a law that states school children shouldn’t be taught america is the worst country on earth that they should defile and shit on at every opportunity

This and the recent news that Oberlin had to pay 42 million to that local bakery have been nice whitepills

There’s a reason the term “quokka” gets thrown around as an insulting term for rationalists. It’s hard for them to imagine others will be hostile to them for no reason besides petty political differences, to the point of trying to destroy your job and reputation

My personal favourite is “so and so claimed, without evidence…”

So what exactly is the problem here?

Your movement is in danger of collapse from MeToo style takedowns and very bad optics. I’m kind of amazed you can’t see the potential problems with a free-for-all sex mixed with workplace business atmosphere.

That’s a great rebuttal

Something about the “more roads doesn’t lower traffic” argument never sat well with me. Seems obvious it’s still a net good to build bigger roads

AGI won’t be allowed to be a thing as it will notice too many patterns in society that would be considered problematic. As such every woke tech firm (which is all of them) will systematically lobotomize them ala ChatGPT, effectively preventing full sentience

Many on the far left have made no bones about regarding the nuclear family as something they want to destroy and dismantle. It should come as no surprise that family-oriented holidays like thanksgiving and Christmas are regarded with hostile and derision. As the far left has gained more and more cultural influence, I expect this to accelerate. Meanwhile if you point it out, you’ll get snide jokes about “the war on Christmas”, in the classic mode of “it’s not happening, but also it is and it’s a good thing bigot”

Don’t forget the man who invented “gender” was a pedophillic child molester. German sexologist societies honoured him for his work in forcible castration of little boys and molesting them soon afterwards.

nothing new under the sun eh?

Does anyone else find it interesting that despite going through a momentous era of nation wide protests through BLM, Covid lockdown protests, etc. there’s been very little in the way of protest music produced by the culture? This may just be the function of my being mid 30s and being out of touch, but unlike the 1960s-70s which produced some amazing protest music (bob dylan, Nina Simone, Beatles, etc) there’s been…nothing of any note these days. Feels like a cultural wasteland tbh

Is this the youth being a much smaller generation now? Is music too corporate now? Or are the youth simply more conformist and love authority?

There are leftists, open border libertarians and moderate conservatives who talk honestly about immigrants in Scandinavia. Some users on this forum fit those descriptions, including some who are from Scandinavia themselves. @Stefferi.

“There are literally dozens of us!”

The other groups I mentioned acknowledge problems that have arisen as a result of immigration, but argue that there are benefits that are not captured by simply looking at net tax contributions,

Like what? Ethnic food?

that there are many more law-abiding immigrants than there are criminal immigrants

This reminds me of the poison smarties thought experiment.

that crime levels need to be seen in perspective (e.g., Malmö's homicide rate is magnitudes

This is a fully generalizable argument for anything though. “This isn’t an issue because in some far off place it’s even worse” it’s pure sophism and poorly reasoned rhetoric.

and that people who have acquired Swedish citizenship should be afforded the same rights and protections as ethnic Swedes.

by definition. We aren’t talking about citizens.

It’s not “anything LGBT”, but it is gender ideology. Do we really need kids instructed in how to use dildos in sex Ed class? The dems of Chicago seem to think so 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you have to reach back 40 years then no, they aren’t “known for that”. That’s before the lifespan of your average woke millennial

I’m long past expecting consistency from blue tribe. If their power is threatened they will lash out with considerable force

Yeah the dissent… you should really read it. See attached

I looked at the twitter account for Chanda Prescod-Weinstein, and…wow. That woman is so unhinged. I have never been more happy I chose not to go further into academia, it has completely turned into a mad house.

The JWST naming discussion serves to highlight how much more work is needed, and we are striving to make progress. In 2022, the AAS hired the first AAS DEI Committee Support Specialist to help support this work, and we are planning a DEI summit in 2023. We are implementing pronouns as part of the AAS membership and meeting registration processes. We will continue to advocate and urge NASA to create a transparent and community-based process for naming missions and buildings.

The sheer number of woke rhetorical cliches here…it’s almost artistic. Reminds me of the furor in Canada when they “found” all those dead children from residential schools, all the while not admitting not a single corpse had ever been exhumed and nothing new was actually being uncovered, but a mass hysterical performance of grievance was called for regardless.

Well, yeah. You have no real argument despite massive evidence being weighed against your position. It’s just neurotic appeals to emotion, constantly.
