Might Turkey join the fight against Israel? Former US Colonel Douglas Macgregor thinks they might. Obviously this would be horrible for Israel, the US, and NATO. Does anyone understand what is happening in Turkey well enough to know if this is a possibility?

If Israel gave notice and said "Everyone out of northern Gaza because we are going to destroy it in two days" and Biden didn't object I think Israel would be fine. Because of scope insensitivity people are about as bothered by 100 birds being killed as by 100,000 of them dying. I think something similar is true with how the world feels about Palestinians. (As I expect AI to soon be able to uncover all of our identities matching what we write here to text under our own names, please note I'm not claiming that any of this is a good thing.)

To get a rich and English speaking state, we would have had to attack the British Empire, which would not have been easy until after WW II, at which point doing so would have devastated the US brand name.

A huge reason the North didn't let the South leave and fought a civil war to keep them in the union is because everyone knew the US was much militarily stronger as one nation

Prediction: If this passes nice hotels will almost never have vacancies. They will have some rewards program that guarantees there are never vacancies because any empty room will be given to a person in the rewards program or perhaps given to a friend of a hotel employee. Or, you go to the hotel expecting to have one room, and the hotel decides to give you two as a bonus for being such a good customer.

This is fantastic. My previous view was that Hamas launched the attack out of pure evil or stupidity, but after reading this I think they have a real chance of permanently crippling Israel. There is an equilibrium where if most of Israel's neighbors turn against Israel, Israel doesn't have a chance and then, I suspect, the Jewish population of Israel moves to the US, Canada, and/or Australia.
