That just means V is up. During COVID the Fed flooded the market with liquidity but my guess is a lot of that was semi trapped in interest on excess reserves.
By the same token during COVID you would have expected far more inflation based off of base money growth.

I think it would be fair to say all sports are proxies for war. Every sport has some element that mimics a violent act.

I have never once seen that play happen before. Things in the goal crease where guys falling to the ground - yes. I’ve never even seen a full kick like that before.
Hockey in the fairly recent past has had legit assault happen in their games. Things far past the gentleman fights etc. Or the planned some shit happened and now we are both sending out our 12th forward whose really a boxer to have a mid game boxing fight plays.

That was probably the game I’ve seen that got most out of line. Hockeys a weird game where being on skates can get very dangerous and they always let the players themselves enforce standards with their fists.

I think citing the “lived experience” as false in this economy is a vast simplification. It depends who you are in this economy.
For retirees living off investments this is full-stop a terrible economy for them. All their asset prices have crashed due to high rates especially if they weren’t loaded in magnificent 7 stocks.
If you are in family formation mode this is a terrible economy for you. Housing costs are thru the roof because of Bidenomics. Both because the infrastructure bill raised the costs of building by pulling workers to government projects and because high interest rates (and high real rates) has crushed home affordability.
I think you are looking at net stats. A lot like the stock market this year. If you owned big cap tech your feeling great. If you don’t own that stuff it’s a depression. If you average them all up it’s ok. But the typical person isn’t the average of results. Hence this economy really is bad for a lot of people.
You are consuming averages (economy ok in a lot of ways) with a lot of variance in personal situations.

Just thought you participated in those threads a lot but maybe I’m confusing you.
I don’t criticize people for being racists. I’m against immigration and especially Muslim immigration to the US or at a bare minimum highly filtered if we allow any Muslim immigration.
I am fine with ethnostates. I’m not fine with people advocating for changing the post war system which includes being against genocide.
I am also very concerned with giving China control of our memes. Countries don’t stand when their populations differ on their shared values.
I wouldn’t care if you advocated for genocide to be honest, but I do care when it seems like 50% of the next generation seems to be buying into it. Those kind of things lead to the fall of countries and in this case some much worse for the Jews. I become very concerned when speech looks like it will lead to action.
I don’t know the solution, getting China out of our social media seems like a reasonable beginning.

There are things I value more than free speech. I don’t have a problem with a lot of things America did in third world countries to limit communism. Sure you can argue I’m giving you a false choice but I’m not positive it’s a false choice.

I came to a conclusion a while ago that I am no free speech absolutists under a couple of conditions. The Free Palestine from the river to the sea is one area where I think we may have passed what I think we can allow. There has been some talk of foreign ownership of tick tock and how we had limits on foreign ownership of media. My Overton window for restricting speech comes down to these factors:

Is it something really bad that if implemented would ruin civilized society. This saying comes far too close to explicit promotion of genocide. Sure you can sane wash it but it really does feel like a belief one step away from advocating a policy of the holocaust.

Is the threatening speech outside of a nutty 1-2% of the population and capable of becoming official policy. I don’t care what some cult talks about which includes things within some gender studies program. Looking at views in the younger generation it feels like the majority of young people hold these beliefs in some form.
Society needs the free exchange of ideas obviously and free speech should be the dominant belief in most instances but this seems to be approaching if not past my line.

I think everything you described especially Floyd were part of the old pact on race. Disparate impacts were ignored and the right went with an idea that the failure of the black community was bad culture versus lower IQ and higher rates of criminality.
Before Trump George Floyd would have just been a drug addict overdosing. The revitalization of it was progressives.

Fair critique. Honestly just wanted to play the other side especially when you said Japanese could legitimately tear down FDR statues.
Had a drink or two last night and and I do lose some nuance then. Sure I can’t say nothing wrong happened. But there’s also obviously something that was going on in America that slavery wasn’t that bad. I guess I don’t like agreeing with the left that America is some rotten and evil place and the worst thing America did created a thriving community.
100% guarantee if it happened to my people I would take the same view. I’m autistic enough and lacking in social desirability bias to get there.
Also I don’t think comparing to Latvians or Poles with Russian figures is fair. They suffered genocide which American slavery didn’t. And there’s no argument those communities are better off. Even cultural genocide didn’t happen as during the institution of slavery and after they ended up creating a globally recognized culture. One could argue the second most globally influential culture behind the broader American culture.

Nothing wrong happened to black Americans. Let’s think about the stats America imported something like 400k black slaves. Today we have 47.2 million black Americans. The richest black people in the world are American.
It’s literally one of the most successful ethnic communities in the entire world.
Anyone in Africa who had a choice between getting enslaved or not for the long turn evolutionary success of his gene pool would choose enslavement.

Musks does usually fail. And he sets goals that he is likely to fail. No complaint there. If you judge Musks by the goals he sets them he is a loser.
For the record I’ve shorted Tesla before and have never owned it. The goals he set are 10-100x what the rest of society is trying to achieve. He ends up doing 5x. A .200 hitter in baseball when the rest of the world is batting .03.
I don’t know if he will get to the moon. I do know no one else on earth even has a plan to go to the moon. We have sclerosis in hard tech.
I’ve said what I think he’s done that are huge advancements. All modern tech is built on the shoulders of giants to an extent so your always going to have a whataboutism that some other guy was doing something similar. But his achievements went much farther than that other guy. You’ve disagreed these are big achievements and quite frankly I think you are wrong.
And I’ve been wrong on Musks in the past. I always doubted it. Then a few years later he had all these companies humming and produce great products at lower costs and greater scale.
I do agree his hype and promotion are a big reason why he achieves things. It’s why he’s a great boss. He inspires his workers to accomplish goals they didn’t think possible. He’s no doubt a very talented engineer. His real ability is being the greatest coach we’ve ever seen at getting his teams to achieve things we don’t think we can accomplish.

And of course there are deans writing letters in support of this behavior (can’t find it now but Columbia’s dean put out a letter in support of the students being mean to Jews).
I had asked here before where do Jews sit on the grievance social heriarchy. It’s apparently a bit of both sides. For official government stuff very highly. For the next generation of elite wokes they might be beneath rural whites.
