Midterms Megathread

Cause otherwise midterms discussion will be scattered around a bunch of separate Culture War thread posts. And it's nice to have more off-the-cuff rapid reactions in a dedicated megathread.

The first thing I've noticed so far: if the exit polls are correct, Americans are very pessimistic about AI.

fact check: mostly true. Wouldn't have saved a loss but would have spared the wipeout, that's the nature of realignment giving you the low-propensity voters.

Trump is about to find out in politics when you fuck up as bad as he did everyone turns on you. I don’t think he understands how fucked he is and how Republicans are about to have their knives out.

He's in for a rude awakening when the Republicans start to distance themselves from him, too.

Texas has fallen, billions must say "I never really liked that Trump guy anyway."

Yeah, Abbott is… well he has an independent politics machine and a lot of reason to hate trump.

They already are. He’s cooked. I don’t think he makes it 2 more years.

What do you think might happen? I doubt they'd get enough Republicans to vote to impeach and remove him from office - not without some significantly greater disaster than this down the line - and he's not going to be 25thed. Nor do I think anyone's going to be able to convince him to resign.

I think Republicans will turn on him. If he stays 2 more years they lose in 2028 and they know this.

Seriously disappointed we didn't get a wall of text

Good move by him

I still find the 'thank you for your attention to this matter' sign-off hilarious.

What does he expect the reader to do? Go and inform people that the drubbing wasn't his fault?

That's the most predictable thing that could have happened.
