Fair point, high end reps are part-for-part identical to rolexes except for the balance wheel. You can even install a genuine rolex balance wheel on a rep.
My guess is the rolex bom for a freesprung balance wheel is quite low, but it probably took serious capital investment in building a bespoke machine to calibrate the balance wheels.
Seems like seiko had teething problems on their own line and sold a bunch of watches that couldn't keep time. Anyways Rolex has been making these balances for decades so their in house cost is certainly quite low

If we are talking about a genuine Austistic kid who in 1850 would have been called slow and awkward and given some simple job like feeding chickens and brushing horses. Nothing changes. Vanishingly few of these people exist, and none are transitioning of their own accord. What the system is doing to them is another thing, they do mostly need to be relocated out of schools and into outdoor day laborer positions as soon as practicable.
If we are talking about colloquial autists, well contention #1 for me is they will be cured of this mental condition by being physically fit and having boot-camp like conditions imposed on them every morning from 8-10 AM. In addition, it will not matter if one girl can beat him at a footrace, he will beat most of them and some other male will beat that fast girl handily. Also if the physical fitness program is well done, even that strong girl at his school will get utterly demolished in anything even resembling physical combat, so say one accidentally runs into him in the hallway. She will fall, he will not. This will be obvious so long as she's not some absolute physical freak like Brittany Griner.

Yes that is true. It should not be an option though. School PE should resemble an R. Lee Ermy boot camp at the start of each school day and failure to participate would be treated with latrine duty instead of being able to go to other classes.

I don't think ending the K-12 system is happening anytime soon, I do support all sorts of efforts to reduce its scope such as vouchers and the enabling of homeschoolers. But, if I were a governor or even merely on a school board, I would be pursuing measures to make my children healthier. And that would mean starting school with a vigorous, non-optional, PE curriculum.

I would probably use wood for the handle -- I do indeed spend enough time working with stainless steel that I have some in the basement, and the tools to shape it. (wouldn't be much if I used a wooden handle and just rivet the steel to it)

The concept of "SSDI is just SSI, but targeted at a slightly younger and more blue-collar workforce" seems to be borne out by the second chart here (look at the small, pale blue bars). The numbers keep going up the closer you get to retirement age. In a somewhat more proper sense, this could be explained as: this is quite specifically the cohort you expect to get disabled, as they're manual workers who get old enough for all their little injuries to come back and bite them. Either way, not nearly as knee-jerk offensive as Alone's example, except in the sense that no matter how you decide who gets what, you're still creating a large class of people who are drawing on entitlements from the labor of unrelated others. But that's a far deeper topic.
The race-based charts just line up in the traditional poverty order. I dunno if there was ever any possibility of it being otherwise.

You can't because they specifically need welded chainmail links and the other samples they tested fell apart. Pretty sure you don't have that lying around, and they also said that the chainmail was the biggest part of their BOM.
Actually I can -- I have wire, and I have a welder. Both are literally in my basement right now.
Anyways it doesn't sound like their chainmail was even made in America, so I guess I could buy some from the same coolies making theirs in India if I were pressed for time.
Or I could buy some lockwashers and weld them up -- this would probably cost five bucks or so.
They are making something seem like a big deal when it isn't -- they just don't have the market to set up a proper factory, so they are using the limited production run + marketing + high price model to make a buck. Similar to the dropshippers pimping crap on Amazon.

It’s like quitting drinking. If you’re a terminal alcoholic, quitting will have some major positive effects on your life. If you drink a few beers twice a month, you’re probably not even going to notice. For “The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z” who are cranking it out to hentai 7 times a day, nofap is a revelation, and they will see substantial improvements to their mood and energy levels. For anyone with normal habits it probably isn’t going to be a game changer.
It's also worth noting that the gig economy was very much in its infancy at the time of this article's publication in 2013. Commuting 30-60 minutes to Tuscaloosa (The only city within an hour of Hale County, which itself is so rural that it doesn't have a Walmart or pizza delivery.) to drive for Uber or Doordash is a superior alternative to SSDI, but Uber didn't operate in Tuscaloosa until 2016 and Doordash didn't get into gear until a few years after that.
Relating to your point about wages, the labor market being much tighter than it was in 2013 means that managers hiring for the sort of light retail job suited for a lamed blue collar worker have much less room to be picky.

Yeah, Hale County Alabama having a working-age disability rate of 25% (It looks like that's dropped to 20% since that article was written.) sounds scandalous until you consider that it's mostly a dying rural area, the sort of place that doesn't even have a Walmart to be a greeter at. Especially in the crappy job market of the early 2010s, a fifty-something country bumpkin with no education and occupational experience limited to blue collar work that they're aged or injured out of is pretty close to unemployable anywhere within a reasonable commute of the area. Tuscaloosa is 30-60 minutes north depending on which side of the county you're in, and that's pretty much it. Good luck competing with a bunch of underemployed college graduates!
I do not think that expecting basic competency is an "insane standard" or even that elitist. Stop making excuses for sub-par work and answer the question.

I don't see how that's relevant to my point at all, which is that that death rates don't tell you much about rates of bad behavior. Obviously cars are more likely to kill someone, ke=1/2mv^2 and cars have a lot more m and a lot more v. I think cyclists commit bad behaviors much more often.
I just assumed they were Trans.
