He has amazing instincts. He gets everything right.
I do agree he is of lower moral fiber. But maybe we need a guy like him. The system is broken as witnessed by this trial. He’s like the sin eater. Takes everything they throw at him and keeps moving forward.
Explain?
When has the west done non-defensive violence? Are NATO troops in Russia?
Then why didn’t the FEC charge Cohen? The underlying crime which makes what someone wrote in excel a felony is that there is an underlying crime.
That crime is under the jurisdiction of the FEC. They never charged anyone.
I would sign a peace deal tomorrow with Russia if they offered one.
Russia is not offering peace.
The only deal Russia seems to be offering is peace if you do it by force.
Dictators really aren’t that bad. Rome was great under the emperors for very long periods of time. Assad was better than before. Franco was better than the communists. China has done fairly well. The Saudis are the most functional country in the ME outside Israel. Singapore. It’s heavy America propaganda that dictators = bad.
Paying off a mistress sounds like a fairly normal thing for a private banker or rich guys personal fixer.
There is no IRS claim here. If he recorded this as a business expense instead of a personal expense then there would be tax implications. No such case exists.
Honestly the lack of a tax charge is completely confusing me on what he was misrecording.
The fact the FEC reviewed this and said no crime also seems like a big issue for NY to say a crime occurred.
Let’s not rehash the stolen election thing here. A lot of us believe he was directionally correct and if you go back thru the files it’s well litigated.
This just clarifies the system is broken. We need Trump to expose all the flaws. Peoples eyes were shut before. Now we can have the election on lawfare.
It will get more people fired up to do something. Pick Desantis to be VP. He can be like Stringer Bell - your get shit done street boss.
That being said I got this case wrong. Somehow I thought we could find a hung jury.
That is just an opinion that does seem to differ with Russian actions.
Even then you need significant geographical barriers limiting growth. Only a few places are Tokyo dense.
I think it’s actually easy to fix housing. Voters don’t want to in blue states where I am guessing you are located.
You never directly build affordable housing. You build new high end housing. The old high end housing depreciates and in 20 years is affordable.
The only hard thing now is addiction to fiscal policy which drove up inflation and private investments (rates). Which curtails new construction where they let you build.
I don’t think it is Israelis problem. Drive them out.
Let me get this straight. You think Russia went to war for what was already the status quo?
NATO for all intents and purposes no longer existed before the war. All the European land armies had been nearly completely disbanded. Hypothetically maybe Ukraine enters NATO in 20 years. Russia certainly could have asked for no on that, but it’s basically meaningless because NATO as a military force in Europe was disbanding.
Anyone who tries to claim the west is warmongering just makes these in my opinion wild assumptions that Russia had any interest in peace. It’s based on nothing.
I reject that there is a moral argument that Israel has to rebuild Gaza.
Gaza was wrecked because it deserved to be wrecked. The idea that Israel has to rebuild Gaza is sort of some American philosophy being a Christian nation, but let me remind you Judaism is a pre-Christian religion. If Gaza did to Rome what they did to Israel Rome would crucify them, enslave a lot, and salt the earth so they never come back. In Judaism you can take vengeance for vengeance sake. Regardless, the morality you speak of is not my morality. I think even from a Catholic Just War Theory eviction can be argued as appropriate. Maybe $3k and a flight to somewhere else is morally fine.
Even after WW2 Germans were often evicted from lands they lived pre-WW2. That has been the case in many wars. Syria wasn’t rebuilt.
As far as war strategy goes I think Israel’s only rational move is full eviction at this point. I think the idea of rebuilding Gaza is neither morally universal or good military strategy.
I am talking out of my ass of course. And would say you are doing likewise. Putting probabilities on things like this is an inexact science but my read on Russia has me in that camp.
Interesting though if the rest of my probabilities are correct a 1% chance of 100 million lives lost in a nuclear exchange added to my probabilities would still marginally favor American troops on the ground. Current war strategy on both sides of attritional warfare probably costs another 200-400k Ukranian lives and some multiple of that in Russian lives. Versus in my scenario the dominant probability is Russia backs down and sues for peace after a show of NATO force. The primary result of which would be Russia viewing Ukraine as no longer winnable.
This is not my position. You are mis characterizing my position and not correctly summarizing it.
I am in favor of a peace deal if Russia offered terms.
Who knows. All those scenarios have risks for the most part of “something happens in Russia” and they decide to use nukes or an Ukraine collapse would trigger a dozen countries to get nukes.
The highest upside outcome would be US boots on the ground. Actually less insane that you make it sound. Outcomes
-
70% chance Putin sees that and immediately sues for peace. This actually provides Putin an out. Losing a war to Ukraine is disgraceful. Surrendering to the U.S. army is not disgraceful. No bullets get fired and lives are saved.
-
20-29% chance Putin is locked in and we get to see the liberation of Kuwait two. Few US casualties. American generals get to show off their toys and have a good time. China receives a strong message on Taiwan. America most comes together happy we slaughtered the dragon.
-
Some percent chance tactical nukes are used. Low percent chance he tries nuking population cities.
I did not say that.
How do you think it will end?
Everything I see from Russia makes me thing it’s win or lose.
What you propose of current lines would seem to be a frozen conflict but I don’t think Russia will make that offer.
Palestine wouldn’t exists without US support now. Assuming someone is willing to sell the Israeli’s guns does anyone think they couldn’t go out and find $40 billion to give a willing seller?
They probably would be a little short on pure mass of arms so would need to buy.
This is a silly comparison.
A). No countries were militarily conquered
B). NATOs military has dramatically shrunk
You play Russian Roulette whether you fight in Ukraine or not. If you choose not to your just playing with a different gun.
Appeasement didn’t work in the ‘30’s. Looking weak today increases the risks China or Russia oversteps in the future. You even marginal raise the risks of a Russian/Chinese first strike if they think you are too soft to counter.
Playing brinkmanship is just part of the game. It can’t be removed.
Strawman. Russia isn’t offering peace for the territory they have already captured.
You either need to surrender likely all of Ukraine and hope Russia doesn’t want more or you need to escalate to deescalate.
To do that you need better weapons for Ukraine. Allowing strikes on military targets in Russia (staging grounds etc). Potentially formalizing western advisers and logistics. I would consider Polish/French troops in defensive operations. Both have shown some willingness.
I think those steps are necessary to minimize an exchange of nuclear weapons. It asserts the borders don’t change rules of the post-war era. Which limits nations like Estonia, Taiwan, Poland, Saudis, even Iran from going nuclear.
Where did I say Putin was Hitler?
