"Utah" is basically one letter away from "Ummah". The kabbalistic implications should be obvious.

If you want to understand Donald Trump, imagine your normie grandfather having a power fantasy about being the super-model banging billionaire who saves America with Common Sense and Not Being A Loser.

Silksong, from what I can tell, seems to be explicitly designed to avoid much of the power creep of other metroidvanias, including Hollow Knight, hence the paucity of damage and health upgrades. But it may be that I am very dumb - I got through almost all of Hollow Knight before realizing that the nail upgrades even existed. (I do have the first needle upgrade in SS; getting the second seems like it requires quite a bit beyond merely beating Act I, which I have done.)

Have you actually seen anything specifying "neonazi"? Everything I saw in the news had just a generic statement about "an extremist group" and "still unclear about the motive".

It takes time for deep incentive changes of this sort to percolate. It wasn’t intended as a subsidy for childlessness, nor was it perceived as such.

But it nonetheless is.

It sounds sort of like you want to slot this into something like trolling or outrage bait? I don't think I agree with that if so. Yes I don't care that he's dead. I love that he's dead. He was evil! That my enemies are incorrectly modeling my behavior and, were they only to change how they treated me, sounds like something that I would want to believe if I knew my participation in an activity was irresponsible or unjustified. Passing this responsibility onto others, especially onto my enemy, sounds ideal. You made me do it is tried and true.

because it has a significant risk of Streisanding the idea of actively supporting assassinations among people who currently don't support them

Personally, I think this is already out of the bag, among all manner of other things that make one a leftist, fascist, good, or bad. The left-coding isn't for the benefit of or in response to the right. The left-coding is and -- rather than something new -- we should consider this a resurgence of an old meme the left has relied on and used to great effect before. I suppose the right could try a 4D play and reclaim calls to violence (doesn't go well for them) or attempt its own social media-gov't speech restriction on behalf of conservatives which also doesn't go well.

I agree nobody should want to will something into existence or exacerbate it. A vicious, more violent left benefits some. I'm not sure to what extent this is occurring. What appropriate response do you have in mind?

A fired shell casing was inscribed with “notices bulges OwO what’s this?"

Don't cite the Deep Magic at me, witch. I was there when it was written.

Lying is an effective political tactic.

  • Numerous lies were told about the events of Jan 6th to cement its political significance. These lies later collapsed, but the significance has largely remained. That was a win for the liars.

  • People earlier this week pointed out that the guy who broke into Pelosi's house with a hammer admitted himself, on the record, that he was motivated by batshit right-wing conspiracy theories. At the time, right-wing bullshit about his motivations flew thick and fast, and while I didn't take much of it seriously, neither did I receive the correct info and had assumed since that it was just a random crazy.

  • Consider the Birther conspiracy theory. That was, by all available evidence, also a lie. People believed it because they wanted to believe it. Believing that Obama was a contract demon who could be banished by speaking the correct secret words was vastly more comforting than believing they'd lost the election, and so a lot of people believed it and actively worked to get others to believe it too.

Party-sanctioned killings.

Hard-left states regularly create deliberate distinctions between the party and the state, to the degree that when the two contradict, the party is prioritized. This allows non-state party organs to act freely and against state elements during times of internal control tensions, such as when state capacity is weak, or those in charge of the party are trying to purge party elements within the state.

There seem to be a lot of particularly vile people making hay right now by asserting that the assassin was a groyper as though they had evidence of it, often outright lying to do so.

For all the people making clownworld asshats of themselves, the ray of light for me is the shooter’s father. It sounds like he, perhaps with the help of someone from their church, convinced the shooter to not kill himself and to turn himself in.

There were so many other ways to handle that: stay quiet and let the government handle it, disown him, tell him to go ahead and kill himself, etc.

Imagine the strength it took to say, “You will not kill yourself. You will not run. You will submit yourself to the authorities and face the consequences—and if that means your very life, so be it.”

I have my issues with tradcons, but at moments like this, there is a radiance that is almost blinding to gaze upon.

You should try that at a funeral. Get video.

The cope from left wing people I know are discord is insane. I've gotten both that he was groyper and it was a trump ordered false flag. Up until now I considered these people fairly connected to reality and I'm quite shocked at how quickly they're resorting to conspiracy to deny this. Not to mention they usually follow up with him being a piece of shit and it's good he got shot anyway. It's "the holocaust never happened but it should've" tier bad rhetoric.

I'm not sure what to do about it either. When I try to dispute it they suddenly just ignore me and don't even try to defend what they said. Should I just stop talking to these people all together? It's gonna be kinda hard to interact with them with this stuff they said at the back of my mind.

I mean, you might be able to perform the sacrament over the phone in extenuating circumstances, but I'm not up on my teleCatholicism. It is (in Catholicism) a sacrament (like Marriage or Baptism or Last Rites), and it's generally done in a little box called a confessional. The priest sits in one part, and is screened so they cannot see the person in the other part... although in Catholic School, we sometimes did it with the priest in a chair just turned away so they can't see. The petitioner confesses their sins, and the priest can then assign them penance to perform and absolve them of their sins in God's eyes. If the sin involved harming another, the penance usually involves making amends somehow.

In this situation, the "seal of the confessional" is that the priest will not - under any circumstances - divulge what has been confessed to them. If it's, say, confessing to a murder? The priest may assign "turn yourself in" as penance, but cannot act outside the confessional to try to get the fellow arrested.

There may be extenuating circumstances for cases of ongoing/near future harm that can be prevented, but I don't think so. I think the "seal" really is that absolute. It's... something I really, truly respect an awful lot as a concept.

This is only Catholics, mind you. If a Protestant tries to say they went to their pastor and said something under the seal of the confessional, that's just an ordinary gentleman's agreement. And yes, it's only in these specific circumstances, as part of the Sacrament. If you just roll up to your local Catholic church and say, "Hey, Padre, just letting you know I stole a bunch of stuff", he can absolutely dial the police, no problemo.

Yeaaah.

The subtext of all the celebrations is they want it to happen again. And again. And again.

If it were a lighting strike, well, they have no way to influence that. Its wishful thinking at worst. Though still repugnant.

When its a targeted murder, then yeah, condoning, celebrating, and encouraging it IS influencing it to happen again. Its inviting another of their number to step up and do it for glory, for the cause, for their tribe.

Whatever you want to call it, it is the opposite of telling people to stand down.

It's only an ambush because those college kids think they're brilliant, generation-defining thinkers who definitely have all the answers and they're actually ignorant fools. If Kirk accomplished nothing but inspiring the faintest touch of humility and consideration in a small portion of the kids he debated, then he had more value than most of their professors.

I agree though that act 2 is great compared to act 1 so far lol.

I am very lost on choral chambers. Explored everywhere I saw and am kinda stuck. ALAS! I want to look stuff up but would hate to spoil more.

That is unlikely. Social security started in 1935.

This doesn't ease concerns or my condemnation. Don't celebrate murders is a good norm and weakening it among a significant, visible category of people raises the risk we see predictably bad outcomes

I agree, but the two different cases call for two very different responses. I think accusing everyone who cheers of actively encouraging assassinations is ineffective. First, because it's correctly perceived by the cheerers as inaccurately modeling their mental state, and therefore as wrong-headed criticism that can be written off altogether. Second, because it has a significant risk of Streisanding the idea of actively supporting assassinations among people who currently don't support them, but might conceivably come round to doing so if critics accidentally create spurious "common knowledge" that everyone on the left supports them.

Silksong Act 2 for me. Love the game so far, exactly what I wanted from "more Hollow Knight". Last Judge was fairly easy for me, good telegraphs and I was able to heal in between attacks.

The argument I’m seeing from the left that he was actually a Groyper and all the antifascist slogans were ironic has an amusing resemblance to Holocaust denial.

Meanwhile, the argument I'm seeing on Tumblr is that he's just some innocent guy the FBI are framing for some reason. Like the post simply asking: "Does anyone actually believe it was Tyler Robinson?" and so on.

Then, there was Kotaku founder, Polygon cofounder, and journalist for Variety and Rolling Stone Brian Crecente's "argument"

Oof, Charlie Kirk’s boys should have used the same team that faked Trump’s shooting. This is what happens when you try to save money on your false flag operations.

But with that said, I have significantly more sympathy for people who celebrate his death than seems to be common among people who don't share that celebratory mood. It doesn't feel outrageous to me that people are enjoying this. Imagine that someone you really hated was randomly struck down by a freak bolt of lightning. Wouldn't you be pretty giddy?

No, because I am not an extra slow child. If someone I loathed from the other tribe, say AOC, was shot like Kirk was, my gut reaction would be "Oh, no! She's going to be insufferable after this. She's going to ride the sympathy and milk it for the next 50 years. She might get to be president now. This is a disaster."

You make left-wingers sound like retarded children who can't grasp the basics of cause and effect.

People are not reproducing because the government promises them the labor of other people’s children in retirement.

I'm not fully aware of the nuance here. So the context of when and where matters? You can't just call and 'confess' over the phone?
