I think she likes you.

Curtis Yarvin debated Danielle Allen, a Harvard professor, last week. Did anyone here listen to the debate? What were your thoughts?

I'm also pretty nonplussed by "body count". There are red flags related to it (HIV and stepkids are obvious; I'd also consider a nonzero count of "times cheated on partner" without an extremely-good explanation to have too high a risk of ending in Extreme Drama) but the count itself is not very relevant.

Could this be more about the general pressure put onto the Universities and their funding rather than what it says it's about?

The conceit of Liberalism is that the average man has the time or inclination to invest into this level of reasoning. I think you'll be disappointed if you still think they will.

The brand of autist that hangs around in these parts might well put in the effort. Most people won't. They may or may not end up trusting the NYT. They could also revert to base superstition because the NYT is not trustworthy.

There is certainly espionage happening that needs to be dealt with, but the wording of the announcement would seem to indicate that implementation of this policy will, like most things to come out of this administration, be indiscriminate, haphazard, amateurish, and probably lead to a worse outcome than if nothing had been done at all. If anyone thinks we can win a cold war against China without immigrant brainpower, they are out of their minds. However smart you think white kids from the midwest are, they aren't going to become ubermenschen who are worth 4 Chinese apiece just because we banned affirmative action and are kicking out all the international students.

Coke Zero is my preferred caffeine. In the first few months after each of my kids was born, I would drink a 2L bottle per day. I decided to stop because of the risk of tooth decay. The real-sugar drinks are much worse for teeth, but I'm pretty sure the acid from the carbonation is also not good, especially since I was drinking the coke without any food. (It's not hard to find random studies showing carbonated water is bad for teeth, but I'm not sure how much stock to actually put in them.)

Interesting read, thank you. Sordid stuff, dripping with ego.

Why bend over backwards to dunk on the forum

Sorry about that, but I'm a bit jaded about the pretense of rationality in these discussions. They never have been, and I doubt they even can be.

instead of proposing solutions yourself?

Ban porn sites, dating sites, smartphones, and civilian wireless internet.

There is an obvious 50-Stalins solution to the "romance recession", which is waifu/husbando tech/ever-improving AI partners.

I might be missing something, but it sounds like the opposite of a solution.

In my entire social bubble, tracking from early graduate school if not earlier, there are few signs of "romance recession"

Like I said, not a rational conversation. This argument would be immediately dismissed if it was used to argue for something you disagree with, and you know it.

Brand new account makes poorly supported histrionic post (and follow-ups) about a subject that inevitably will bait a certain segment of themotte to make embarrassing long-posts, immediately gets linked on rdrama.

You misunderstand. There is not going to be the prophetized "beta uprising" where wizards use their magical powers to enslave normies, that's not how things work.

Society is just slowly going to become lower and lower trust until it becomes an incomprehensible mess and collapses under its own weight. Incels are not going to do something, they're going to do nothing. And your society needs a whole load of something to work.

Tate is a good symptom of this actually. Note that he does not advocate people engage in pro-social behavior and become pillars of their community, only in looting. Get your own, pump and dump, get the lambo, evade taxes, scam others. Because if society is not willing to offer a fair deal, that's all that's left.

There's no talk of marrying and having children and buying a house and paying into your retirement fund here.

You will see violence. But that's because decay and lawlessness invite it. "These guys" are not going to go out and harm people for the most part, but they won't stop those that would.

I was up late last night on the phone with the girl I'm maybe sorta kinda seeing.

I think the conversation had somehow taken a turn into automation-induced unemployment, to which one of her comments were that if we did achieve that, wouldn't that bump humanity up on the "scale"?

What scale did she mean, I asked.

(Is she talking about the Kardashev scale? Could that possibly be the case, or are you deluding yourself, SMH?)

Well, you know, the one that goes from 1, 2 to 3. And measures energy right? I think humans are like a 1 or 2?

Yep. That's the one. You have accidentally activated my trap card, or at the very least my special interest.

I know that going on to deliver an impromptu lecture on the true meaning of the Kardashev scale, that energy use isn't the best proxy for technological advancement, that humanity is a paltry 0.73 blah blah isn't the definition of rizz, but I just couldn't help myself. Fortunately, she did tell me that she liked it when I went on infodumps.

(If you can't tell, I'm a nerd)

If you're even remotely possibly an alcoholic (who enjoys cola mixed liquor drinks most of all), it goes down easier and might even taste better once you're used to it. Cherry coke zero and bacardi are cheap, fucking your life up is expensive.

Mainland Chinese students (and some ethnic Chinese 2nd+ generation residents/citizens) have been doing Industrial Espionage for the CCP for ages. This could be justified on that alone if they don't have the state capacity to vet them for access to certain research projects.

I can't see how Chinese students in particular are involved in the latest Israel/Gaza 'terrorist support' fiasco. They usually keep a low profile regarding politics. Ethnic chinese students are often monitored by the CCP in foreign countries for support of Chinese related stuff (Taiwan, Falun Gong, Tibet, Uyghurs, Hong Kong etc). Haven't seen any of that flare up recently.

their sexual principles were largely alien to ours and probably in relevant ways that make the law's impact different than simplistically comparing it to the modern day

I think this is true in a specific sense but untrue in a general sense. People had vastly different conceptions of morality and sexuality, certainly, but they were still human beings so their concerns were ultimately the same: securing material commitment, certainty of paternity, etc.

In impact, it's roughly like a law in modern America which prescribes punishments to College Graduates if they steal the wife of another College Graduate.

And that's still a significant and willful regulation of the sexual marketplace. Those real Alpha jocks are not up for a free for all where the best man can just fuck everybody's wife, actually. Because they want their kids to be theirs.

I do not think Abrahamism and Christianity in particular is special in regulating the sexuality of both sexes. There's plenty of other moral doctrines that do. It may do it more or in different ways, but the proposition that one sex had total dominion on the other at any point in history except in times of rape and pillage is highly dubious.

And an observable, significant differential in outcomes...

I'm sure membership in a nice country club is great for both networking and your mental health. I just don't think utterly ruining my epistemics and overriding all other evidence I can see is worth the cost of religion. Maybe if I actually thought it was true.

Ozempic would be "too good to be true", but thankfully the universe is apathetic and cold, and doesn't work that way. God knows that an enormous amount of effort has been put into finding some massive downside, to little avail.

I wouldn't call what I've experienced consciousness altering, at least if you don't think taking a Tylenol to reduce pain makes it a psychotropic drug haha. But it does make me less hungry. I'm like 50% sure it's also decreased my craving for liquor, not that I drank that much in the first place.

No. I read through the literature and reviews of it not that long ago, and was overwhelmingly convinced that it's safe, without any significant downsides to speak of. Of course, nobody studied coke zero in particular, but rather studies on artificial sweeteners like aspartame.

https://dynomight.net/aspartame/

That's a good review if you want to read it up yourself.

Drink the nectar of the gods, and consider yourselves safe from sugary sin or calorific clap.

Exactly, seems like a 'sounds good, does nothing' action.

The Australian esafety commissioner is someone who might be affected, this is the class of person we're talking about. She almost certainly doesn't want to go to America. I've heard unprompted stories from this kind of highly-educated PMC govt worker about how much they don't want to go to Trump's America or America generally. It's not like they're going to be holding any big, prestigious censorship conferences in the US, that's a Davos/Europe thing.

Or Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, the one Elon was fighting. Does he want to go to America? Absolutely not.

I don't think anyone in any case is generally informed of the right to habeas. There's no miranda-style warning that lets inmates of all crimes and demeanors know that the right to habeas exists. In fact there isn't exactly a notice that goes out to everyone about all your different rights whenever you might need them. There's no notice letting you know you can just refuse a search from the police, many people might have no clue you can just say no. There's no sign pointing you to the nearest gun store posted at the entrance to every bad neighborhood.

Maybe there should be something like this, but there isn't. So it's up to you to know your rights and use them when needed, because the government can't be relied on to educate you.

If you haven't read it already, Scott's "Semaglutide: More than you wanted to know" series does a deep dive on alternative sources. If I had been priced out of branded tablets, that's what I'd have gone for. Even then, I'm a little unsure of the legal particulars in both India and the UK, his post was for American audiences.

I am convinced, however, that that route is safe enough. It's really not that hard to reconstitute the powder in bacteriostatic water and manage a s/c injection.

Of course people would use AI to maintain the conspiracy that has us believe Finland is a real country.

Lentokonesuihkuturbiinimoottoriapumekaanikkoaliupseerioppilas? Come on.

I already had to do plenty to assuage parental concerns, I know about grey market sources but didn't consider them. Maybe if the oral form was way more expensive.

Unfortunately, if you want to wait for expiry of patents, that's a good while away. The best hope in the short term is a patent buyout and award

She's been default judged multiple times and ordered to pay millions in damages, so she'd likely go immediately to jail.
